This place sucks. I'm usually stuck in the waiting room for over an hour past my scheduled time. Only to meet with the male counselor for about 20 minutes. He blames everything on my relationship and keeps asking the same questions over and over.
sadly, clear evidence of the low standards of mental health care that south carolina chooses to provide. very underqualified counselors. the administrative staff is obviously more concerned about their personal lives than that of their clients, even while on the clock. I work for a day spa...which shows up on the caller id when they receive their calls. the receptionist answered the phone asking me about when she could get her dog in for grooming....? really?! I arrived early with all information that was asked for me to provide. the receptionist was nothing short of hostile. when she called me back to review my information she asked me questions that had already been answered..."what is your hourly pay?" "I'm on salary"..."so you don't receive an hourly pay?" "yes, that's what salary means..." the counselor I was to meet with was running behind, these things happen...however, nobody would answer me directly about when I would be seen and demanded that I wait and would not offer to reschedule me. because of my schedule restrictions I'd already had to set the appointment 4 weeks in advance. I met with the counselor for 20 minutes...in that time he'd discerned that I MUST be upset about a relationship or something. obviously women don't have professional or academic careers that may cause them stress. I've been to counseling many times, this was hideous. I will never go back.
I have a mentally retarded son who has been experiencing violent behaviors and self abuse and abuse to others. I called to talk to a nurse and was transferred to 3 offices before I got talk to one. This began in August and the nurse i spoke with scheduled an emergency appt. 24 hours before the emergency appt they called and rescheduled him until September 18th knowing this was an emergency appt. They give me a 10:15 time on the 18th so we wait and finally that day comes. When I arrived the appt desk said I was 15 min late and he needed to be rescheduled. I was crying and told her he needs to be seen as this was an emergency appt. I began to tell her what was going on and she laughed then said go to emergency room. I reported this to the attorney general and to DHEC. They are incapable of providing care to the disabled people of this community.
