Ratings for houses of worship are a little dodgy, because spirituality is a personal experience. Let me provide a few comments regarding the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as the Ridegeland Ward and Okatie Branch.
Ridgeland Ward is an English speaking ward (parish) that meets at 10am each Sunday. The first service is Sacrament Meeting, the Mormon version of Mass - sabbath day worship.
Okatie Brach is a Spanish group whose first meetings begins at 11am and whose Sacrament is conducted at 1pm - also on Sundays.
Many in the community are aware of the fellowshipping, community activities that occur at this building. Each Wednesday is a youth group activity and Boy Scouts also happen during the evening around 7pm. People generally play volleyball on Tuesday and Thursday evenings around 7pm. Soccer is played by Spanish people with some Anglo friends on Fridays also around 7pm.
Ridgeland members of the Church are great examples and their testimonies and love for the savior can be felt when entering the building. Services are so uplifting and a great way to start your week.
What's not to love?
Red Cross blood drives happen once per quarter and are announced in Ridgeland - along with signs placed outside the building.
Feel free to come and explore the church. You will find the people who attend these events unusually friendly, mixing a sense of Southern hospitality with a community-minded church.
Awesome church. The spirit of The Lord truly dwells here. The members are a great example and strive to follow the example of Christ.
Most notably, big Lowcountry Boils and picnics happen a few times each year. The most fun occasions for children are Trunk or Treat, generally the Weds before Halloween around 6pm, and an Easter egg hunt the Sat before Easter. Times may change, so always double check!
